FAWU Statement On Freedom Day

The Food and Allied Workers’ Union (F.A.W.U.) will be celebrating Freedom day 2018 among members of its new federation body, the South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU), commemorating its very first anniversary after its historical breakaway from COSATU and launch of the new federation that embodies new hope for struggling and vulnerable workers in the country.

Therefore, while we will always be grateful for our very first democratic elections and the symbolism of Freedom Day, there is still so much work to be done. This Freedom Day, we commit to carry on the struggle for economic freedom of the great leaders of our time, Comrade Albert Luthuli, Oliver Tambo, Nelson Mandela and the recently departed Mam Winnie Madikizela Mandela.
