Statement On Human Rights Day

21 March 2018

As a nation we need to do some introspection and become more vigilant in what we demand as citizens of this country. We need to become active participants in our communities and our society as a whole. We need to demand from government that they put a stop to corruption and instead focus on improving health and safety standards and to vehemently and unapologetically enforce the very basic laws that are meant to protect the innocent and vulnerable groups in our society.

I hope those responsible for the above tragedies are prosecuted and brought to book. They have caused the unnecessary loss of innocent lives and unspeakable grief among the bereaved families and friends. On Human Rights Day 2018, let us all remember these lives that were lost so tragically and vow to never let this happen again.
