Roivaal Farm Workers in KZN On Strike

190 Farm workers employed by Roivaal Farms (Rennie Ventures) in the Kwa-Zulu Natal province have all embarked on a protected strike early on Monday 11 September 2017 in demand of a decent wage increase. The union revised its demand from a 600 wage increase across the board down from their initial demand to a R300 wage increase. Our members have other demands as follows:

  • A once -off amount of R 1500 to increase to 5000 Rand for funeral cover;
  • Family responsibility - 3 days per incident;
  • FAWU funeral scheme of R 45,75 per employee on company cost;
  • Provident fund to be implemented as from January 2018.

Farm Workers in South Africa have been underpaid for far too long and are still being neglected as they have been denied benefits all employees enjoy. They are performing manual labour in our harsh climate - working so we can have food on our tables and deserve to be paid a decent living wage.

FAWU demands a living wage and better working conditions for these farm workers.

Amandla!!!
