AB Inbev Offers Severances Packages to Managers

The brewer confirmed in local media reports that it has started to offer voluntary severance packages to certain employees at a managerial level as part of the process of merging operations.

The company says that there will be no forced retrenchments in keeping with an agreement and the conditions as stipulated by the South African Competition Tribunal. It also says that these voluntary packages were made available to mid-management employees and above and does not affect the employees at bargaining unit level. The brewery states that they are mindful of the fact that the agreement also stated that employment numbers must be retained for the duration of five years as agreed.

FAWU GS, Katishi Masemola says that AB Inbev should stick to the agreement and conditions as set out by the South African Competition Tribunal by retaining overall employment numbers over the next five years.
