FAWU Salutes A Fallen Comrade

FAWU dips its banner in red as we celebrate the young life of comrade Amos Walaza (34) who was part of the sea-going crew of Irvin & Johnson situated at the Cape Town Waterfront. The comrade lost his life two weeks back on Saturday, 24 October 2015,allegedly during shootings by police. Comrade Amos was young and ambitious and had hopes of becoming an engineer on the many I&J ships. His friends said he was a quiet, humble and intelligent man who was loved by all who knew him.

The reason for the shooting and the circumstances of his death are unknown at this stage and is currently under investigation.

Co-workers and the union convened a memorial service for the late Amos Walaza at the I & J Auditorium on Wednesday, 4 November 2015. His funeral will be held over the coming weekend in the Eastern Cape.

Hamba Kahle Comrade Amos!!!! FAWU Salutes You!!!
