Kees Beyers Chocolate Company On Strike

25 July 2011

About 270 permanent and casual workers from Kees Beyers Chocolate Company in the Isando Industrial area in Johannesburg , are on strike since the 13th of July 2011. Our members are demanding a 11 percent wage increase while the employer is offering 6 percent. The workers also want a 13th cheque, while the company is offering them two -weeks bonus, based on the company`s discretion. Striking workers also want a ban on labour brokers as the latter undermine hard-won rights for workers. We strongly believe that workers should get their bonuses and this right should not depend " - on the company`s discretion!". We demand a living wage for all our workers !!
