Local Government Elections 2011

15 April 2011

The upcoming local government elections will be the fiercest ever to be contested because of service delivery deficit, perceived or actual, in the eyes of communities and the protest actions that go with it.As FAWU, we have spent resources in canvassing our members and by extension, their families and friends to vote the ANC. We did these through calendars, t-shirts , caps and flyers.

Our structures and officials are expected to be part of elections programmes and mobilization activities throughout the country but in coastal provinces of KZN, Eastern Cape and Western Cape due to factors of respectively, NFP and IFP, Cope and the DA. We still need to get provinces to plug themselves in various parts of the alliance election programmes, particularly in the Western Cape but also in the Eastern Cape and KZN.

We therefore ask the provincial leadership and Provincial Secretaries in particular, to deploy an optimal use of provincial organizers in these election mobilization programmes.
